WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, MI (October 15, 2025) - The second day of the 2025 NISA Pro Cup has come and gone, and one team has punched its ticket to the semifinals.
It's probably not the Southern California anyone expected, but Capo FC is the first team headed to the knockout rounds.
As for the other SoCal team... we'll have to wait and see what happens on Matchday 3.
Los Angeles Force 1, Peak XI FC 1 (L.A. Force wins in PKs, 4-3)
In a tough and physical game, the defending NISA champions got the best shot from its opponent.
Joel Quist scored his second goal of the tournament in the 15th minute for L.A. Force (1-1-0), but Alpay Lazkano equalized for Peak XI FC (0-1-1) midway through the second half.
Mark Gamez made two saves to preserve the win in the shootout as L.A. Force earned an additional point.
Capo FC 2, Northern Colorado Hailstorm 1
Better late than never.
Jonathan Estrada scored from the penalty spot for the second consecutive match as Capo FC (1-1-0) came from behind to secure three points and advance to the semifinals.
Aaron Russ scored in the 1st minute of the match to grab another early lead for Northern Colorado Hailstorm (1-0-1), but Capo's Parker Scalzo early in the second half.
In stoppage time, Dakota Hatzenbeller earned a penalty call and Estrada stepped to the spot and delivered the match-winner.
Sin City FC 12, Modesto City FC 1
The team from North Las Vegas vented a little bit of its recent frustrations.
Miguel Higareda scored a tournament-high four goals as Sin City FC (1-1-0) scored seven times in the second half to put away Modesto City FC.
Andy Rodriguez scored the opening goal in the 8th minute and it was all downhill from there as Roberto Soto and Duce Bell added two goals in the win.
Bubakarry Padika scored for Modesto City FC (0-0-2) just before halftime, but even a full 11-side with substitutes on the bench wasn't changing the result.
Arkansas Wolves SC 3, DC Hyper 1
George Almeida is continuing to make his mark on the NISA stage.
The 6-foot-5 Brazilian scored two goals in the second half, and Diasuke Otsuke added another as Arkansas Wolves SC (1-0-1) earned its first victory of the Cup.
DC Hyper (1-0-1) benefitted from its second own goal in as many matches but was limited by more physical defensive play on the wings.
